Partners in Health: Ophelia Dahl

Read the Boston Magazine interview with PIH Executive Director, Ophelia Dahl.  Ophelia attended Wellesley College with me in the early 90s. She is smart, funny, generous, intuitive, and has a marvelous British accent that would charm the spots off a giraffe.  Ophelia has dedicated much of her adult life to Partners in Health, an idiosyncratic, pragmatic organization that believes in, and delivers, healthcare options for the poor.  PIH has grown from a small office in Cambridge to large headquarters in Boston’s medical district and projects around the world from Haiti to Peru to Russia.  Today, PIH and Paul Farmer are known globally for ground breaking work in the prevention and treatment of HIV and multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDRT) .For a more comprehensive history of PIH, and its founders Paul Farmer, Jim Kim, and Ophelia Dahl, pick up Tracy Kidder‘s Mountains Beyond Mountains.
